Catching You Up! The Journey Continues.....

This is ME now!

Hi! It's been a while since I've been on this blog.  So much has happened since my last real post in 2015!  For one, it's been 8 years TODAY since I started Mothers On The Mountain Jewelry! I've come so far in my journey!

First off I'll start with the AMAZING Jewelers Bench my hubby built for me in May 2015!! You can see in a previous post, he started off by building me a Soldering Bench.  (yes, I'll admit I'm spoiled having a carpenter for a hubby!)
It's beyond anything I could've imagined! I know I earned this wonderful tool! I just love it! I've tried so hard not to beat it up too much so she's stays gorgeous.  Currently I've updated it with new tools and such and moved it inside so I can stay warm working in the winter.

The construction of my bench...

This was by far the coolest thing anyone has ever built me. I just love looking at it or just sitting at it. It gives me great sanity!
So this has jumped my game up a lot. My old bench wiggle to the music it was so unstable!
Here's my original "bench". It was an old work table of my hubby's he let me use!
I barely had tools and just attached my bench pin with screws to the table!

While I had my bench in the garage, I'd often be visited by my chickens who love to free range. I'd often look up from a project and find them all asleep around my feet. I do miss that, but I don't miss the cold now that my bench is inside. That's Rosie who always tried to steal my chair!

I left my soldering scene in the garage for safety reasons and ease. This is how it looked before I moved my bench inside.  Now that area is full of lapidary rock saws!!  I'll show that in another post!

All in all, the past 8 year in this journey have been so wonderfully eye opening into a world I never could've imagined being in and being good at it! I love those kinds of surprises!

Spring/Summer Pendants and Rings

It's been summer time with kids and so there are all sorts of metal ideas clanging around in my head, just waiting for a chunk of time to sort them out.  When I do have a bit of time, I'll just sit at my bench, catch my breath and daydream.
Then there's those days that the movies are on and I'm afforded the time to be able to accomplish a lot at my bench! The kids are getting used to the fact that I need to work on my jewelry, plus they are good readers too so they can get lost in a book which also gives me work time and not so much tv time for them.
I did have a good jeweler friend come over and "Procraftinate" all day with me! I tell you, that's a nice break from being solo and it also brings inspiration and laughter!
So, summer is going good. :)

Kingman Turquoise Ring with Stamped Silver

This ring is definitely me trying out a batch of my new stamps. Which is so fun!
It takes a lot of patience and practice to get all the stamps right where you want them. I'm still working on that.
This is a Kingman Turquoise set in stamped sterling silver.
One of a kind.

My Auntie calls this design "a heart underwater blowing bubbles."
